The research team with Professor Jae Min Cha has been officially selected for the "Global Research Network for Multilayered Stroke Treatment Technology through the Convergence of Electroceuticals and Advanced Bio-Nanomaterials" project. This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).
- Project Title: Global Research Network for Multilayered Stroke Treatment Technology through the Convergence of Electroceuticals and Advanced Bio-Nanomaterials
- Research Goal: Innovative Fusion of Electroceuticals and Bio-Nanomaterials
- Period: Jan 1, 2026 – Dec 31, 2027 (2 years)
- Supporting Agency: Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF)
- Program: Bio & Medical Technology Development Program (Infrastructure for Bio-Innovation)
Strong Partnerships with Leading Global Institutions
This project is being conducted through intensive technical and personnel exchanges with world-renowned research institutions. Notably, Professor Jae Min Cha is currently conducting a Sabbatical Year at the University of Sydney Pharmacy School until Feb. 2027, where he is leading active collaborative research with Professor Wojciech Chrzanowski, a global authority in nanobio-characterization and extracellular vesicles.
- University of Sydney (Australia): Nano-bio characterization of exosomes and verification of neuroregenerative efficacy.
- Johns Hopkins University (USA): Establishing administration strategies using Prof. Deok-Ho Kim’s iPSC-based Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) organoid models.
- A*STAR (Singapore): Developing hybrid therapeutics and mass-producing high-purity iPSC-derived mitochondria with Dr. Boon Seng Soh.
Empowering Promising Researchers & Future Outlook
Our lab is committed to fostering the global expertise of our researchers through verified partnerships and a shared scientific vision.
- Global Dispatch Program: Promising researchers, including Mingyu Jeon, So Young An, and Wu Young Kang, will be dispatched to The University of Sydney, Johns Hopkins University and A*STAR laboratories. They will acquire advanced technical knowledge on-site, conduct core experiments, and lead the publication of joint international research papers.
- Paving the Way for Commercialization: By establishing global standardized production SOPs and QC/QA criteria, we will lay the foundation for translating our lab’s original technologies into real-world clinical practice.
The 3D Stem Cell Bioengineering Lab at Incheon National University will continue to bridge global research frontiers, striving to become a global hub that provides innovative therapeutic alternatives for stroke patients worldwide.
